post quality

I’ve been on most of the day due to boredom and lack of really anything to do today and I’ve noticed a few things about the posts on this forum. Now I know that keeping the people active and happy so they participate in the tournaments and wars is the biggest concern but one way to do this would be to have the forum more active. Now there have been a lot of posts today which is great but some of these are pretty dead end posts that seem like they are there for no more than to raise your post count. I know not all of my posts have been huge either but I for the most part try to put a little thought into my posts. If you aren’t sure what I’m talking about, here are a few posts that I’ve seen that are examples of what I’m talking about:

Quote :: Nice....

Quote :: O_O

Quote :: oh ight

Quote :: ...interesting....

Now I know there isn’t any rule about how much you have to post or anything but posts like these don’t bring anything to the conversation. You really can’t comment on them unless you bash them and it makes it harder for people who actually want to discuss the topic to post because now people have joined in with absolutely nothing to say. You could say that they are just reactions to above posts but it still adds nothing and posts really should be for creating conversation. There was also one conversation that could have been completely avoided if someone would have just read the first post. Yes it looks like the forum is more active but is it really? I’d say no.

In all I just figured it should be pointed out that if this keeps happening yes there will be a lot of posts but if there isn’t any real conversation then people won’t pay much attention to the forum.

I guess that's just your own definition of what a post should be like.

But on topic that is a good point there should be a minimum to how many words you need in a post, cause "Hey" is not a good post to welcome someone.

Yes, I have thought about this, but this seems like a lesser prioriy tbh. It is very annoying to see a one word post but, as long as I don't consider it spam as i read through the posts then it is fine. But the "O_o"-Jaguaris will never happen again.

Longer posts don't necessarily mean better either Zen. If its long but no content in it then its no better if not worse than a short post. Sorry if it sounded like I'm trying to do the job of a mod, i'm really just trying to point out what I see in order to help the forum. Its your call in the end Chaos. If you choose to do something about it then great if not I'm not going to say you aren't doing your job because its your site you run it how you feel necessary to keep it going. I'm just giving my feedback like this section of the forum is for.

Lesser priority perhaps, but it's an easy fix. Simply post to tell YOUR members to knock it off and list the consequences. Easy at that.
